Before you read: some questions to help you think about the topic and the words you might need.
What things make you feel ashamed?
How do you feel if you do something wrong and disappoint a friend?

People who feel shame and remorse strongly make better friends, employees and boy/girl friends, a study from Carnegie Mellon University suggests.
Researchers asked people participating to think about what they would do in different scenarios, then measured their replies on a "guilt and shame proneness" scale.
Those with higher scores of guilt were more likely to be someone you can trust and someone that is caring , they discovered. They also, are more likely to be sympathetic, and to see other people's point of view, and to think about the results of their behavior.
Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University found that being prone to guilt is not the same thing as feeling guilty after doing something wrong.
Those who are guilt-prone anticipate having negative or bad feelings before they do something that they feel is wrong.
It also found that women are more guilt-prone than men.
One of the writers, Taya Cohen, said; "The guilt-proneness scale has the potential to be an important tool for predicting which individuals are likely to behave unethically inside and outside the workplace."
