Dog gets a Phd

How do you think a dog got a Phd?
Why would a dog get a Phd?
An 8-year-old Labrador dog has received a Phd
in veterinary medicine.
Since 2014, Moose has been a therapy dog
at Virginia Tech’s Cook Counseling Center. He
has spent enough years there to earn a doctorate degree of his own. He has been
a therapy dog for patients going through cancer treatment. Moose has also has
been on the receiving end of such treatment himself.
He was diagnosed with cancer in
February. And he has been receiving cancer treatment.
His doctors are at the Virginia-Maryland
College of Veterinary Medicine. This school is a joint venture between Virginia Tech and
the University of Maryland at College Park. Moose is one of four dogs at the
counseling center who are working as therapy animals.
Moose works with a licensed counselor who has
been at the center for 10 years. The counselor launched the
animal-assisted therapy for students who need alternatives to human counselors.
Some humans haven’t had the best experience
with other humans. Moose provides a very safe and comforting feeling to the
patients.
After his own treatment, Moose is healthy again.
Moose received his degree during a virtual ceremony. He was showered
with lots of delicious food.
