    ◆ 일상 생활 속 활동 (30초 답변 연습)  - Books (2)

    안녕하세요 여러분, 오늘부터는 토익스피킹 세번째 유형 중 6번 질문 (Q6) 에 해당하는 ‘30초 답변하기’ 연습도 함께 해보겠습니다. 4번 질문과 5번 질문은 각 15초 답변이기 때문에 2~3문장으로 대답을 하면 충분하였습니다. 하지만, 6번 질문에서는 30초의 답변 시간이 주어지는 만큼, 대답이 두 배로 길어져야겠죠? 최소 5문장 정도로 대답하는 연습을 함께 해보겠습니다. 

    30초 답변 문제는 보다 더 포괄적인 질문이 제출됩니다. 예를 들어서, 지난 번 시간에 이어 ‘독서’ 주제로 함께 전략을 세워보겠습니다. 30초 답변 질문으로는 ‘책을 읽는 장단점을 설명하세요 (Describe the advantages and disadvantages of reading books)’ 혹은 ‘책을 읽는 것을 선호하나요, 영화로 보는 것을 선호하나요? (Which do you prefer, reading a book or watching a movie?)’ 혹은 ‘가장 감명 깊었던 책을 설명하고 이유를 말하세요 (Which book was the most impressive? Describe the reason.)’ 등이 있습니다. 

    이러한 질문 역시 30초 내에 요약하여 답변해야 하므로, 너무 장황할 필요가 없습니다. 
    우선 책을 읽는 장단점부터 brain-storming 해볼까요?
    책을 읽을 때의 장점으로는 첫째, 독서를 통해 경험과 지식을 쌓는다 (I can broaden my experience and expand my knowledge through books)  둘째, 정신이 풍요로워진다 (I can enrich my spirit)  반면에 단점은 무엇이 있을까요? 바로 ‘책 한 권을 다 읽는 데 시간이 걸린다 (It takes a long time to finishing reading a whole book.)’ 입니다. 

    위와 같은 영어 표현들은 꼭 외워두세요. 다른 질문들에 대한 답변으로도 많이 활용할 수 있습니다.

    There are some advantages and disadvantages of reading books. First, I can broaden my experience and expand my knowledge through books. Another advantage is that I can enrich my spirit by reading books. On the other hand, the disadvantage of reading books is that it takes a long time to finish reading a whole book. When I don’t have much time to read a book, it might take a month to finish a book. But still, I think there are more advantages of reading book.
