    ◆ 일상 생활 속 활동 (30초 답변 연습)  - 독서와 TV시청 중 선호도  

    토익스피킹 세 번째 유형 중 6번 문항으로 30초 답변 연습을 해 보겠습니다. 두 가지 사항 중 어느 것을 더 선호하는 지에 대한 질문으로, 이 경우에는 자신의 입장을 분명하게 밝혀야 합니다. 둘 다 선호한다는 식의 중립적 입장은 배제하세요. 하나의 입장을 정해서 논리적으로 이유 및 예제를 들어 설명해야 좋은 성적을 받을 수 있겠습니다. 

    우선, 독서의 장점을 살펴볼까요? 책을 읽으면 가장 좋은 점이 바로 지식을 넓힐 수 있고 간접 경험을 할 수 있습니다. 뿐만 아니라 여가 시간에 책을 읽는 것이 휴식을 취하는 좋은 방법이 될 수 있습니다. 
    그럼 이렇게 warming-up 한 내용을 영어로 표현해 보겠습니다. 

    1) It’s a great way to expand my knowledge and broaden my experience. 
    (지식을 넓히고 경험을 쌓기에 좋은 방법입니다.) 

    2) When I have some free time, I like to grab a book and read it, and it’s a good way of taking a rest. 
    (여가 시간이 있을 때, 저는 책을 집어 들고 읽는 것을 좋아하며, 이것은 휴식으로도 좋은 방법입니다)

    그렇다면, TV 시청을 하는 이유 및 장점은 무엇일까요? 우선, TV 시청을 통해 뉴스를 보고 시사문제를 알 수 있으며, 오락 프로그램을 보면서는 스트레스를 날려보낼 수 있겠죠. 또한 피곤할 때에는 아무 생각 없이 TV를 보는 것이 가장 편한 일이 될 수도 있겠습니다. 
    이제 영어로 표현해 볼까요?

    1) While watching news programs on TV, I can catch up on current issues.
    (TV로 뉴스를 보면서 시사 문제를 알 수 있습니다)

    2) Also, I can laugh my head off while watching comedy shows on TV, and it helps me relieve my stress. 
    (또한 TV로 코미디 쇼를 보면서 배꼽잡고 웃을 수 있으며, 이것은 스트레스 해소에 도움이 됩니다. ) 

    이제, 실전 예상 문제로 답변 연습을 해보겠습니다. 

    6) Do you prefer reading books or watching TV in your free time?

    I prefer to read books when I have some free time for some reasons. I’m busy at school because I have a lot of homework to do every week, so I like to take a rest and read books on the weekend. Also, it’s a great way to expand my knowledge and broaden my experience by reading books because I can learn many things from books. It’s more productive than spending time just sitting in front of TV. That’s why I prefer reading books in my free time.

    I prefer to watch TV in my free time because of two reasons. When I’m home being tired after work, I just like to sit on my couch and watch TV. When I watch some comedy shows on TV, I usually laugh my head off and it relieves my stress! Plus, I can also watch news on TV and see what is going on in the world. It’s important to be aware of the current issues to be able to have a conversation with others. For these reasons, I prefer watching TV when I have some free time.
